Apple M4 vs Apple M4 (10-CPU)

Last updated:
The Apple M4 and Apple M4 (10-CPU) are Apple SoCs introduced in May 2024, designed for demanding mobile applications and professional users.

Both are manufactured using a 3nm process. The Apple M4 (10-CPU) offers 10 CPU cores, while the Apple M4 offers a lower number.

They share 20 MB of L2 cache and 120 GB/s memory bandwidth. Single-core performance is comparable for both. In multi-core tasks, the Apple M4 (10-CPU) outperforms the Apple M4 by over 10 percent in tests, thus delivering significantly more performance. For gaming, both offer similar performance.

This is due to the identical integrated Apple M4 (10 Core) GPU and comparable single-core performance, which is usually crucial for games. Thanks to the 3nm process, both are energy-efficient. The Apple M4 (10-CPU) has slightly higher power consumption under sustained multi-core load but remains optimized for mobile devices.

Direct prices do not exist as the chips are integrated into Apple devices. The Apple M4 (10-CPU) is found in more expensive configurations and offers higher multi-core performance for a corresponding surcharge. The Apple M4 offers excellent single-core and very good multi-core performance.

With superior multi-core performance, the Apple M4 (10-CPU) is the better choice for professional, computationally intensive tasks.
