Apple M3 vs Apple A14 Bionic

Last updated:
The Apple A14 Bionic is a processor from an earlier generation, primarily designed for mobile devices, but also found in devices for desktop-like tasks.

It is manufactured using the 5 nm fabrication process and features a balanced core design with 12 MB L2 and 16 MB L3 cache, as well as an integrated graphics unit. Its memory bandwidth is 34 GB/s. In performance benchmarks, the Apple A14 Bionic shows solid performance for everyday tasks, but does not surpass the younger generation.

For gaming, it is suitable for less demanding titles. Its price-performance ratio is attractive in older devices. The Apple M3 is a newer generation processor, specifically developed for desktops and laptops, manufactured using the advanced 3 nm process.

It offers significantly higher performance, both in single-core and multi-core areas, with over 50 percent and 150 percent more performance respectively compared to the Apple A14 Bionic. The M3 features a more powerful core design, 20 MB L2 cache, an Apple M3 (10 Core) graphics unit and a memory bandwidth of 102 GB/s, as well as PCIe 4.0 support.

This enables significantly better performance in demanding applications and games. Its 3 nm manufacturing ensures superior energy efficiency and performance per watt, making the M3 the better choice for demanding users despite higher costs.
