AMD Ryzen 7 5700 vs Apple M4

Last updated:
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700 (Cezanne, Zen 3) was introduced in 2021 and appeals to desktop users, gamers, and content creators on Windows systems.

It is manufactured using the 7 nm process, offers 8 cores and 16 threads, with 4 MB L2 and 16 MB L3 cache. Connectivity is via PCIe 3.0 and 51 GB/s memory bandwidth. The Apple M4, introduced in 2024, is an SoC for the Apple ecosystem, optimized for efficiency.

Manufactured using the 3 nm process, it features up to 10 cores (performance and efficiency cores) and 20 MB L2 cache. It uses PCIe 4.0 and achieves 120 GB/s memory bandwidth, supported by the integrated Apple M4 (10 Core) graphics. In single-core performance, the Apple M4 significantly outperforms the AMD Ryzen 7 5700.

The multi-core performance of the Apple M4 is also higher, which is reflected in benchmarks. For gaming, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700 with a dedicated graphics card clearly has an advantage, as it delivers superior performance. The powerful integrated graphics of the Apple M4 is well suited for many games on macOS, but it does not reach the raw power of a high-end GPU.

The Apple M4 is characterized by exceptional energy efficiency, requiring significantly less power and generating less heat than the AMD Ryzen 7 5700, which has a typical desktop TDP. The AMD Ryzen 7 5700 is attractively priced as a standalone processor and is part of the open AM4 ecosystem.

The Apple M4, however, is tightly integrated into Apple devices, which makes an isolated price-performance evaluation of the processor difficult. In summary, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700 offers strong multi-core performance and is ideal for gaming with a dedicated graphics card in a customizable Windows system.

The Apple M4 shines with outstanding single-core performance, extreme energy efficiency, and powerful integrated graphics, perfect for the Apple ecosystem and productive tasks.
