The AMD A8-6500, based on the Richland architecture, offered an interesting alternative. Manufactured using the 32 nm process, this processor combined CPU and GPU on a single chip. Particularly noteworthy was the integrated graphics unit, the AMD Radeon HD 8570D. At the time, this enabled smooth playback of high-resolution videos.

Playing some less demanding titles was also possible without a separate graphics card. For users focused on everyday tasks, the AMD A8-6500 offered an attractive solution. The Piledriver cores provided a reliable basis for office applications and web browsing. The 4 MB Level 3 cache supported smooth data processing.

We experienced back then how well these APUs eased the budget. They still offered solid performance for mainstream use. The maximum memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s was sufficient for the integrated graphics unit. Even now, this chip can still be used for basic multimedia tasks in suitable systems.

It remains a testament to AMD's APU concept.
