The Intel Core i7-8700, based on the Coffee Lake S architecture and manufactured using the 14 nm process, was introduced in the first quarter of 2018.

It features 6 cores and 12 threads with a homogeneous architecture and 12 MB of Level 3 Cache. Its Thermal Design Power (TDP) is 65 Watts. Equipped with Intel UHD Graphics 630, a maximum memory bandwidth of 43 GB/s, and PCIe Version 3.0, it was aimed at mainstream users. Its single-core and multi-core performance is sufficient for older applications and basic multitasking tasks but reaches its limits with modern, demanding workloads and games.

It is primarily suitable for cost-effective upgrades of existing systems. The Intel Core i5-13500, part of the Alder Lake S Refresh family and manufactured using the more advanced 10 nm process, was launched in the first quarter of 2023.

It utilizes a hybrid architecture with 6 Performance-cores and 8 Efficient-cores, resulting in a total of 14 cores and 20 threads. It has 12 MB of Level 2 Cache and 24 MB of Level 3 Cache. Its base TDP is also 65 Watts, although actual power consumption under full load can significantly increase due to higher boost clock frequencies.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770, a maximum memory bandwidth of 77 GB/s, and PCIe Version 5.0 support offer a modern platform. Its significantly superior single-core and multi-core performance makes it ideal for demanding applications and gaming, as well as for future-proof new builds.
