The Intel Core i7-4770, based on the Haswell S architecture, was introduced in 2013 and targeted mainstream desktop systems.

It is manufactured using the 22 nm process, features 4 cores and 8 threads, and 8 MB of Level 3 cache. Its integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 and PCIe 3.0 support a maximum memory bandwidth of 21 GB/s. In benchmarks, the Intel Core i7-4770 shows superior multi-core performance and, in many tests, stronger single-core performance compared to the N100.

This makes it suitable for more demanding productivity tasks and older games. However, with a TDP of 84 watts, its power consumption is significantly higher than that of more modern, efficiency-oriented chips. On the used market, it offers a high price-performance ratio for raw computing power. The Intel Processor N100, part of the Alder Lake N architecture, was launched in early 2023 and is designed for extremely energy-efficient systems such as mini-PCs or thin clients.

It is manufactured using the modern 10 nm process and features 4 cores and 4 threads, complemented by 4 MB of Level 2 and 6 MB of Level 3 cache. Its integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and PCIe 3.0 enable a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. Although it may show slightly higher performance in certain single-core tests, its multi-core performance is lower than that of the i7-4770.

For gaming, it is only very limitedly suitable for casual games. Its main advantage is the extremely low TDP of 6 watts, which enables fanless and silent systems. It offers a good price-performance ratio for basic tasks and media consumption in new, power-saving systems.
