AMD A10-7850K vs Intel Core i7-3770

Last updated:
The AMD A10-7850K, codenamed Kaveri (Steamroller), was launched in early 2014 and targeted the mainstream segment as an APU with integrated graphics for everyday applications and light gaming.

It was manufactured using a 28 nm process and offers four computing cores (two Steamroller modules) with four threads. Its integrated AMD Radeon R7 graphics (Kaveri), with a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s, enables a usable gaming experience without a dedicated GPU. In benchmarks, its single-core performance showed a lower rating.

The Thermal Design Power (TDP) is typically 95 watts. The Intel Core i7-3770, based on Ivy Bridge S, was introduced in mid-2012 and aimed at the high-end segment for productivity and more demanding desktop tasks.

It was manufactured using the more efficient 22 nm process and features four physical cores which, thanks to Hyper-Threading, can process eight threads, significantly boosting multitasking performance. In single-core performance, the Intel Core i7-3770 was over 100 percent better than the A10-7850K in benchmarks, and its multi-core performance was also significantly stronger.

Its Intel HD Graphics 4000 is insufficient for games; a separate graphics card is necessary for gaming. The TDP is 77 watts. As older models, both processors are primarily found on the used market today. The AMD A10-7850K is a budget-friendly choice for systems without a dedicated GPU and everyday tasks.

The Intel Core i7-3770 offers superior CPU performance and energy efficiency, ideal for demanding software and gaming with a separate graphics card.
