Intel Core i5-13500 vs Intel Core i5-14600

Last updated:
The Intel Core i5-13500 is aimed at price-conscious users in the mid-range segment. It is based on the Alder Lake S Refresh architecture and is manufactured using the 10-nanometer process.

With a total of 14 cores and 20 threads, this processor offers a solid foundation for productive tasks. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770 allows operation without a dedicated graphics card. In benchmarks, the Intel Core i5-13500 shows stable performance, although the results in single-core and multi-core performance are behind the other model.

Energy consumption remains controllable due to the moderate TDP, which reduces cooling requirements. Thanks to PCIe 5.0 and a memory bandwidth of 77 GB/s, the platform is future-proof. The price-performance ratio is advantageous for users looking for a reliable computing unit for office applications and moderate multitasking.

The Intel Core i5-14600 uses the more modern Raptor Lake S Refresh architecture and targets users who need a higher clock speed.

Despite identical 10-nanometer manufacturing and a configuration with 14 cores and 20 threads, it outperforms the other model in single-core and multi-core performance by more than ten percent. Especially in games, the larger Level 2 cache of 20 MB provides advantages. The maximum memory bandwidth increases to 90 GB/s, optimizing data throughput.

Due to the higher performance, the power consumption under load is usually slightly higher, requiring an efficient thermal solution. The Intel Core i5-14600 offers better gaming performance and is suitable for more demanding scenarios. It is the preferred choice when maximum speed within the i5 series is required.
