Intel Core i3-14100F vs Intel Core i7-7700

Last updated:
The Intel Core i7-7700 is based on the Kaby Lake S architecture and was manufactured using a 14-nm process.

This processor was originally aimed at users with high demands for computing power in the desktop sector. It has four cores and eight threads and uses a PCIe 3.0 interface. In benchmarks, the Intel Core i7-7700 shows solid single-core and multi-core performance for basic tasks, but falls significantly behind modern standards.

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 allows operation without an additional graphics card. With a Thermal Design Power of 65 watts and a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, energy efficiency is rather low. For current games, the computing power is often the limiting factor, which is why the processor primarily remains suitable for simple office work in older systems.

The Intel Core i3-14100F comes from the Raptor Lake S Refresh architecture and is produced using a 10-nm process.

Designed as a model for current platforms, it offers four cores and eight threads. In technical comparisons, the Intel Core i3-14100F delivers significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance than the older comparison model. Especially in gaming scenarios, the architecture, combined with a Level 3 cache of 12 MB, ensures more stable frame rates.

Since there is no integrated graphics unit, an external graphics card is required. With support for PCIe 5.0 and a memory bandwidth of 77 GB/s, it offers contemporary connectivity. The price-performance ratio is advantageous for price-conscious users, as the computing power is provided efficiently at a Thermal Design Power of 65 watts.

The Intel Core i3-14100F is therefore recommended for almost all contemporary areas of application.
