Both Intel Celeron N4100 (late 2017) and J4125 (mid 2019) processors are based on Intel's Gemini Lake architecture and are manufactured using a 14nm process.

They are quad-core CPUs with four threads, 4 MB Level 3 Cache, and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600, which utilizes a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. The N4100 is designed for energy-efficient mobile and embedded systems, while the J4125 is for compact desktop PCs. The Intel Celeron J4125 delivers significantly higher computing performance than the Intel Celeron N4100.

In both single-core and multi-core performance, the J4125 surpasses its competitor by more than 10 percent. Neither processor, with its integrated graphics unit, is designed for demanding gaming; they are suitable at most for very simple or older titles, with the J4125 offering a barely noticeable advantage.

The Intel Celeron N4100 features a lower TDP of typically 6 Watts, ideal for passive cooling and maximum energy efficiency. The Intel Celeron J4125 has a higher TDP of 10 Watts, which enables its increased performance but may require active cooling. Both offer good value for money in the entry-level segment.

The N4100 is the choice for applications requiring maximum energy efficiency and fanless operation. The J4125 is recommended when noticeably better computing performance is needed for general tasks in compact systems and the slightly higher power consumption is acceptable.
