Intel Celeron J6412 vs Intel Processor N97

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron J6412 (Elkhart Lake, 10 nm) is intended for energy-efficient embedded systems and budget-friendly desktops such as thin clients.

The Intel Processor N97 (Alder Lake N, 10 nm) targets modern mini-PCs with improved performance and multimedia capabilities.

Both utilize 10 nm and four cores/four threads. The J6412 features 2 MB of L2 cache; the N97 offers 4 MB of L2 and 6 MB of L3 cache for more efficient processing. The N97 significantly outperforms the J6412 in single-core and multi-core performance due to a more modern architecture. Both support PCIe 3.0.

Unsuitable for demanding games. For light titles, the N97, thanks to Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake), offers better performance than the 16 EUs (Elkhart Lake) of the J6412. The J6412 has a 10 Watt TDP, the N97 12 Watts. Both are energy-efficient. Despite a slightly higher TDP, the N97 delivers significantly better performance per watt and offers a more advantageous price-performance ratio for a marginally higher price.

The Celeron J6412 is ideal for basic embedded applications and cost control. The Processor N97 provides a noticeably better user experience and multitasking capabilities for modern mini-PCs.
