Intel Celeron G3900 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron G3900 and the Intel Processor N100 are entry-level solutions for different desktop requirements.

The Intel Celeron G3900 was developed for budget-conscious users of classic desktop systems. In contrast, the Intel Processor N100 is aimed at modern, energy-efficient compact PCs and multimedia systems. The Intel Celeron G3900 is based on the Skylake S architecture and is manufactured in a 14-nanometer process with two processing cores.

The Intel Processor N100 uses the Alder Lake N architecture, is produced in a 10-nanometer process and offers four processing cores. In performance comparisons, the Intel Processor N100 shows significantly higher single-core performance. It is also ahead in most multi-core scenarios due to the higher core count, which enables smoother multitasking.

The Intel Celeron G3900 has 2 MB of L3 cache and 0 MB of L2 cache, while the Intel Processor N100 is equipped with 6 MB of L3 cache and 4 MB of L2 cache. The memory bandwidth of the Intel Processor N100 is slightly higher than the comparison model at 38 GB/s. In gaming scenarios, the Intel Processor N100 is superior thanks to the Intel UHD Graphics with 24 Execution Units.

The Intel HD Graphics 510 of the Intel Celeron G3900 only offers basic graphics output for office applications and simple media playback. The power consumption of the Intel Processor N100 is very low, which enables quiet operation in compact cases. The Intel Celeron G3900 has a higher Thermal Design Power, which however remains easily coolable in standard cases.

The Intel Celeron G3900 is often available cheaply on the used market. The Intel Processor N100 offers a better price-performance ratio for current software requirements and provides more modern instruction sets. In summary, the Intel Celeron G3900 is suitable for minimalist legacy systems with the lowest requirements.

The Intel Processor N100 is recommended for all other everyday tasks, as it offers more cores, higher efficiency and the better graphics solution.
