Intel Atom N2800 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Atom N2800 (Cedarview, Q4 2011) targeted extremely energy-efficient netbooks and embedded systems.

The Intel Processor N100 (Alder Lake N, Q1 2023) is designed for energy-efficient, low-cost mini-PCs and educational laptops with improved performance.

The N2800 uses 32 nm, offers two cores, four threads, and 1 MB L3 cache. The N100, on the other hand, uses 10 nm, four cores, four threads, 4 MB L2 cache, and 6 MB L3 cache for significantly higher data processing. The computing performance of the Intel Processor N100 significantly surpasses the Intel Atom N2800 in single- and multi-core scenarios.

Its more modern architecture and efficient manufacturing enable significantly higher instructions per clock cycle. For gaming, the Intel Processor N100 is clearly superior, equipped with Intel UHD Graphics (24 EUs, Alder Lake) and 38 GB/s memory bandwidth. The Intel Atom N2800 offers Intel GMA 3600 and 9 GB/s, only for the simplest graphical tasks.

Both are energy-efficient. The Intel Atom N2800 is extremely power-saving. However, the Intel Processor N100 delivers significantly more performance per watt thanks to its 10 nm process and modern architecture. The price-performance ratio of the older Intel Atom N2800 is low for modern applications.

The Intel Processor N100 offers an excellent price-performance ratio for new, low-cost systems. In summary, the Intel Atom N2800 is suitable for very specific, power-saving tasks. For almost all modern applications, the Intel Processor N100 is clearly the better choice.
