The Apple M2 and Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU) are ARM-based processors developed by Apple.

The Apple M2, introduced later, is designed for efficiency in compact devices. The Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU), introduced earlier, targets professional users with higher performance requirements. Both processors are manufactured using a 5nm fabrication process and utilize a maximum memory bandwidth of 102 GB/s.

The Apple M2 integrates an 8-core CPU (four performance and four efficiency cores) and an Apple M2 (10 Core) graphics unit. The Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU) also has an 8-core CPU, typically with six performance and two efficiency cores, as well as a more powerful Apple M1 Pro (14 Core) graphics unit.

In single-core performance, the Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU) shows noticeably higher performance in some benchmarks, while in others, the values are comparable. For multi-core performance, the Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU) delivers significantly higher performance in certain scenarios, thanks to more performance cores.

For gaming scenarios, the Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU) is more advantageous due to its superior Apple M1 Pro (14 Core) graphics unit. In terms of power consumption, the Apple M2 is known for its high efficiency with lower overall power draw, ideal for fanless systems. While the Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU) also offers good efficiency, it can consume more power under sustained load and is often found in actively cooled systems.

Price-wise, the Apple M2 is usually found in more affordable devices, while the Apple M1 Pro (8-CPU) is built into more powerful Pro models, which means a higher overall price.
