However, its multi-core performance for creative applications like video editing is, in tests, below that of the Intel Core i7-13700H.

Its high energy efficiency enables quiet systems and long battery life, making it ideal for mobile use and users who prefer an integrated, efficient ecosystem. The Apple M1 is part of a closed ecosystem and not available separately. The Intel Core i7-13700H, based on the Raptor Lake H architecture, was launched in January 2023 and is aimed at powerful laptops for demanding tasks.

Manufactured using the 10 nm process, it features a hybrid architecture with 14 cores (6 performance, 8 efficiency) and 20 threads. It offers a maximum memory bandwidth of 102 GB/s and 24 MB of Level 3 cache. The integrated graphics unit is the Intel Iris Xe Graphics 96 (Alder Lake). In synthetic tests, the Intel Core i7-13700H delivers comparable single-core performance to the Apple M1 but significantly surpasses it in multi-core performance, making it ideal for compute-intensive workloads.

For gaming, often in combination with dedicated GPUs, it is superior due to its raw performance and broader compatibility. Its higher power consumption requires more robust cooling solutions. It is available in a wider variety of laptop configurations from various manufacturers and is recommended for users who need maximum computing power and flexibility.
