Apple M1 vs AMD EPYC 7282

Last updated:
The AMD EPYC 7282 is based on the Rome architecture and is designed for use in servers and professional data centers.

Manufactured using a 7-nanometer process, this processor offers 16 cores and 32 threads, enabling high parallel computing capacity. In single-core performance, it shows stability and is comparable to other specialized solutions, with its architecture primarily designed for processing large amounts of data.

With support for PCIe 4.0 and 64 MB of L3 cache, fast data connectivity is guaranteed. The AMD EPYC 7282 is hardly suitable for gaming, as it has no integrated graphics and is optimized for server workloads. The thermal design power is 120 watts, which requires a corresponding infrastructure.

In terms of price, the model is oriented towards corporate customers looking for a reliable solution for virtualization or databases. The Apple M1 represents a system-on-a-chip solution developed for compact desktop computers and mobile devices.

It is manufactured in an efficient 5-nanometer process and combines eight cores, divided into performance and efficiency cores. In single-core performance, the chip delivers results that are on par with specialized server processors, while multi-core performance is optimized for everyday tasks and creative applications.

Thanks to the integrated Apple M1 graphics with eight cores, simple graphical work is possible, although performance in demanding games remains limited by software compatibility. The Apple M1 is characterized by very low power consumption, which minimizes heat development.

The memory bandwidth of 68 GB/s supports fast processing of data. The price-performance ratio is attractive for consumers, as the chip offers high energy efficiency with solid computing power.
