AMD EPYC processors are currently among the most powerful server processors on the market. The current 4th generation of AMD EPYC processors was introduced on November 10, 2022 and includes processors with up to 96 CPU cores that can run up to 192 threads per processor simultaneously. A maximum of systems with two SP5 sockets / two processors are possible, which enables servers with 192 CPU cores and 384 threads.

The CPU cores of the AMD Genoa processors are based on the Zen 4 architecture, which is also used in the AMD Ryzen 7000 processors for private use, for example. The EPYC server processors combine up to 12 chiplets that are internally connected to each other via up to 64 CLX lines. Each chiplet has up to 32 MB level 3 cache.

A maximum of 6 TB of DDR5-4800 main memory (ECC) can be used in up to 12 memory channels per processor/socket. Each processor has a memory bandwidth of up to 461 GB/s. The processors are manufactured at TSMC using the N5 (5 nm) process. External devices can be connected via 128 PCIe 5.0 lines; when using two sockets, 160 PCIe 5.0 lines are available.
