AMD Ryzen 5 3600 vs Intel Processor N95

Last updated:
The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (Matisse architecture, Zen 2, 7 nm manufacturing) was introduced in 2019 as a mainstream processor for gaming and productivity.

It features 6 cores, 12 threads, 0 MB Level 2 cache, 32 MB Level 3 cache, and supports PCIe 4.0 with 51 GB/s memory bandwidth. The Intel Processor N95 (Alder Lake N architecture, 10 nm manufacturing) is a later released chip for energy-efficient, compact systems.

It offers 4 cores, 4 threads, 4 MB Level 2 and 6 MB Level 3 cache, PCIe 3.0, and 38 GB/s memory bandwidth, including Intel UHD Graphics 16 EUs. In terms of computing performance, the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 significantly outperforms the Intel Processor N95. In single-core applications, the Ryzen 5 3600 shows over 30 percent higher performance, while achieving over 130 percent higher performance in multitasking assignments.

This makes the Ryzen 5 3600 the clearly better choice for gaming, as games benefit from its higher single-core performance, more cores, and PCIe 4.0. The Intel Processor N95 with its integrated graphics is not suitable for demanding gaming. The Intel Processor N95 is characterized by very low power consumption, ideal for passively cooled systems.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600, due to its higher performance, requires more robust cooling and consequently consumes more energy. In terms of price, the Ryzen 5 3600 offered excellent value for money for demanding applications. The N95 offers good value for money for its niche area of basic tasks and mini PCs.
