AMD A8-6600K vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The AMD A8-6600K (Richland (Piledriver) architecture, 32-nm) was introduced in 2013 as a desktop APU.

It offers four CPU cores and an AMD Radeon HD 8570D graphics unit with 30 GB/s memory bandwidth. The Intel Processor N100 (Alder Lake N architecture, 10-nm) is significantly newer and designed for energy-efficient compact systems.

It integrates four efficiency cores, Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake), 38 GB/s memory bandwidth, and supports PCIe 3.0. In terms of performance, the Intel Processor N100 clearly outperforms the AMD A8-6600K. Its single-core performance is about twice as high, and it also handles multi-core scenarios with clear superiority.

For gaming, the Intel Processor N100 is the more powerful choice for older or less demanding titles, thanks to its more modern integrated graphics unit and higher memory bandwidth. The Intel Processor N100 requires extremely little energy with only 6 watts TDP, ideal for fanless systems, in contrast to the significantly higher TDP of typically 100 watts of the AMD A8-6600K.

As a current product, the Intel Processor N100 offers excellent value for money for new, energy-efficient systems, while the AMD A8-6600K is only available used. While the AMD A8-6600K can still be useful for basic tasks in existing systems, the Intel Processor N100 is the clear recommendation for all new applications due to its modern architecture, superior performance, and outstanding energy efficiency.
