AMD A4-5000 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The AMD A4-5000, introduced in the second quarter of 2013, was designed for the entry-level segment and basic computing tasks.

The Intel Processor N100, released in the first quarter of 2023, is a modern processor for efficient and compact systems.

The AMD A4-5000 (Kabini, Jaguar architecture) is manufactured using a 28 nm process. It offers four cores, four threads, and features the integrated graphics unit AMD Radeon HD 8330. The Intel Processor N100 (Alder Lake N architecture) is manufactured using a more modern 10 nm process.

It also has four cores and four threads. Its integrated graphics solution is the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake). The single-core performance of the Intel Processor N100 significantly surpasses that of the AMD A4-5000. This is due to its modern architecture and more efficient manufacturing process.

The Intel Processor N100 also shows significantly higher performance in multi-core applications. Both processors are equipped with integrated graphics units (AMD Radeon HD 8330 and Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs, respectively) and are not designed for demanding gaming. However, thanks to its newer graphics solution, the Intel Processor N100 offers significantly better performance in less graphics-intensive or older games.

The AMD A4-5000 has a TDP of 15 watts. With a TDP of 6 watts, the Intel Processor N100 is significantly more energy-efficient and ideal for fanless or passively cooled systems. The AMD A4-5000 is an older model, primarily relevant for used systems. Its price-performance ratio is no longer competitive in the context of new hardware.

As a current entry-level solution, the Intel Processor N100 offers an excellent price-performance ratio for new, power-efficient PCs. The AMD A4-5000 is an energy-efficient solution for the most basic tasks in older systems. Its computing power is limited. The Intel Processor N100 offers significantly higher computing power, superior integrated graphics, and outstanding energy efficiency.

It is clearly the better choice for most current use cases.
