The Intel Core i7-8709G, based on the Kaby Lake G Refresh architecture, was a very interesting processor solution at the time. Manufactured using the 14-nm process, this chip offered a remarkable combination. Particularly noteworthy is the integrated graphics unit, the AMD Radeon RX Vega M GH.

This unique collaboration between Intel and AMD was indeed a big step for us. It delivered very good graphics performance in notebooks and compact systems. For the year of its release, it was able to inspire many users. With 8 MB Level 3 Cache and a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, the overall performance was solid.

The Intel Core i7-8709G was ideally suited for devices that needed both decent processing power and capable graphics. We see, its compact integration of CPU and GPU was a major advantage. That saved a lot of space. Even today, this chip can offer surprisingly useful performance for certain applications.

Especially where a system does not have much space, it is often still found. It was a versatile package for its time.
