Raspberry Pi 4 B (Broadcom BCM2711) vs Intel Processor N200

Last updated:
The Raspberry Pi 4 B (Broadcom BCM2711), introduced June 2019, is a SoC (System-on-Chip) for single-board computers, primarily for embedded systems and education.

It is manufactured by Broadcom using a 28 nm process, with four Cortex-A72 cores and 1 MB L2 cache. The Intel Processor N200, introduced Q1 2023, targets energy-efficient, cost-effective desktop systems.

It is manufactured by Intel using a 10 nm process (Intel 7) and features four Alder Lake N Gracemont cores (four threads), 4 MB L2 and 6 MB L3 cache. The Intel Processor N200 shows significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance. Its memory throughput rate of 38 GB/s considerably exceeds the 13 GB/s of the Broadcom BCM2711.

For gaming, the Intel Processor N200 with its Intel UHD Graphics 32 EUs (Alder Lake) is more powerful, suitable for older 3D games. The Broadcom VideoCore VI of the Raspberry Pi 4 B is primarily for retro gaming. Both CPUs are energy-efficient: The Broadcom BCM2711 system consumption is 5-10 watts, while the Intel Processor N200 has a TDP of approximately 6 watts for fanless systems.

The Raspberry Pi 4 B (Broadcom BCM2711), as a single-board computer, offers a cost-effective package for DIY projects, with extreme compactness and low power consumption. The Intel Processor N200, for its price, offers higher computing and graphics performance for conventional desktop use, everyday tasks, and improved media playback.
