Intel Processor N100 vs Apple A18

Last updated:
The Intel Processor N100 from the Alder Lake N architecture and the Apple A18 based on the Donan architecture are aimed at different types of users, from price-conscious beginners to demanding mobile users.

While the Intel Processor N100 relies on a 10 nm process with four cores and four threads, the Apple A18 uses an advanced 3 nm process with six cores. In tests such as Geekbench 6, the Apple A18 shows significantly higher performance in both single-core and multi-core calculations, with the difference being well over ten percent.

The Apple A18 is also ahead in gaming, as the integrated Apple A18 (5 GPU Cores) graphics unit and a memory bandwidth of 60 GB/s allow for more complex calculations than the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) with 38 GB/s. Regarding energy efficiency, the Intel Processor N100 offers a very low Thermal Design Power, which often enables fanless systems.

The Apple A18, on the other hand, maximizes efficiency through the small structure width while maintaining high computing power. In terms of price, the Intel solution is significantly more attractive for small budgets, while the Apple system is positioned in the premium segment. For simple office work and media playback, the Intel Processor N100 is a practical choice.

Those who need maximum performance for portable applications and games, however, should choose the Apple A18. Both processors fulfill their tasks reliably in their respective market segments, with the technological superiority of the Apple chip in computing speed and graphics performance remaining clearly recognizable.
