Intel Processor N100 vs AMD FX-6300

Last updated:
The AMD FX-6300, introduced in 2012, targeted the mainstream desktop market. It is based on the 32-nm Vishera (Bulldozer) architecture and features six cores and six threads.

Its single-core and multi-core performance is low compared to modern CPUs. For gaming, it requires a dedicated graphics card as it does not have an integrated graphics unit, and its older architecture limits performance in newer titles. Power consumption is high due to the manufacturing process. As a discontinued model, it is only available used and is part of an outdated platform.

The Intel Processor N100, a product from 2023, is designed for energy-efficient entry-level systems and mini-PCs.

It is manufactured using a modern 10-nm process and has four efficiency-oriented Alder Lake N cores and four threads. Its single-core and multi-core performance significantly surpasses the AMD FX-6300. The processor integrates Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs for basic tasks and light games.

Its power consumption is very low, making it ideal for fanless systems. It is new on the market and offers good value for money in its target segment. For legacy systems or as a replacement in an existing AM3+ platform, the AMD FX-6300 might still play a role. For all modern applications requiring energy efficiency, integrated graphics, and better overall performance, the Intel Processor N100 is the clear recommendation.

It is the more future-proof choice for office, media, and light tasks.

AMD FX-6300
