In contrast, the Intel Processor N150 is manufactured using a more advanced 7 nm process and features 4 MB Level 2 and 6 MB Level 3 cache. Both processors are typically equipped with four cores and four threads.

In terms of performance, the Intel Processor N150 significantly outperforms the Intel Pentium Silver J5040 in all relevant benchmarks. Both the single-core and multi-core performance of the Intel Processor N150 are more than 10 percent higher in Geekbench 6 and Cinebench R23.

The more modern architecture of the N150 also allows for the execution of more demanding benchmarks. For gaming, both processors are only very limitedly suitable. The Intel Pentium Silver J5040 uses an Intel UHD Graphics 605 with PCIe 2.0, while the Intel Processor N150 offers an Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and PCIe 3.0.

Although both have the same maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, the newer graphics unit of the N150 tends to offer slightly better performance in very simple graphics applications. Due to the more advanced 7 nm manufacturing process, the Intel Processor N150 is generally more energy-efficient than the 14 nm Intel Pentium Silver J5040.

Regarding the price-performance ratio, the Intel Processor N150 should be considered the more future-proof option given its superior performance and efficiency, provided the system price is comparable. In summary, the Intel Processor N150 is clearly the more powerful and modern choice for general desktop tasks.

The Intel Pentium Silver J5040 can still serve for the simplest applications where cost minimization is a priority.
