Intel Core i7-6700K vs Intel Processor N150

Last updated:
The Intel Core i7-6700K, introduced in 2015, was based on the Skylake S architecture and manufactured using the 14 nm process.

With 4 cores, 8 threads, PCIe 3.0, and 8 MB of Level 3 Cache, it was aimed at powerful desktop PCs and gaming. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 and a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s complemented its performance. The Intel Processor N150, released in 2023, utilizes the Twin Lake architecture and a more modern 7 nm process.

It is designed for energy-efficient, compact systems and offers 4 cores and 4 threads. Equipped with 4 MB of Level 2 and 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, as well as Intel UHD Graphics (24 EUs, Alder Lake), it achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. In terms of computing power, the Intel Core i7-6700K shows significantly higher multi-core performance.

Single-core performance is comparable. For gaming scenarios, the Intel Core i7-6700K is clearly superior due to its better per-core performance; the Intel Processor N150 is not designed for this. Regarding energy efficiency, the Intel Processor N150 has a clear advantage with very low power consumption and low heat generation, ideal for fanless systems.

The Intel Core i7-6700K requires significantly higher energy consumption. The Intel Core i7-6700K is only available on the used market. The Intel Processor N150 is typically found in new, cost-effective pre-built systems. For applications requiring high multi-core performance and gaming, the Intel Core i7-6700K is the better choice.

If energy efficiency, low heat generation, and quiet operation are priorities for office work or web browsing, the Intel Processor N150 is recommended.
