The Intel Core i7-6700 (Skylake S), introduced in the third quarter of 2015, was aimed at the mainstream desktop market for everyday tasks and light gaming.

It features 4 cores, 8 threads, 8 MB L3 cache, and a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s. It was manufactured using a 14nm process, with PCIe 3.0 and a TDP of 65 watts. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 is intended for basic graphics applications. Its performance is sufficient for standard applications.

The Intel Core i7-8700 (Coffee Lake S), released in the fourth quarter of 2017, targeted more demanding desktop applications.
