The architecture of the Intel Core i7-3770, called Ivy Bridge S, is based on a 22 nm manufacturing process and offers four cores and eight threads. In comparison, the Intel Pentium G4400 uses the Skylake S architecture in 14 nm, but has only two cores and two threads.

In terms of computing power, the Intel Core i7-3770 shows clear advantages in applications that use multiple cores simultaneously. Single-core performance hardly differs in some scenarios, while other measurements show a clear lead for the Intel Core i7-3770. Both processors support the PCIe 3.0 standard for expansion cards.

In gaming scenarios, the Intel Core i7-3770 achieves better results as many titles benefit from the eight threads and the 8 MB L3 cache. The Intel Pentium G4400, on the other hand, is limited to two threads, which leads to bottlenecks in demanding software. Regarding power consumption, the Intel Pentium G4400 works more efficiently due to the finer structure width.

The maximum memory bandwidth is higher for the Intel Pentium G4400 at 34 GB/s than for the Intel Core i7-3770 at 26 GB/s. While the Intel Pentium G4400 is an affordable option for simple systems, the Intel Core i7-3770 offers more reserves for parallel tasks. For computationally intensive applications, the Intel Core i7-3770 remains the more stable choice, provided the appropriate platform is available.
