Intel Core i7-13700 vs Intel Core i7-14700

The Intel Core i7-13700 (Raptor Lake S) is a 13th-generation 10 nm desktop processor. It features 16 cores (8 P, 8 E) and 24 threads with 24 MB L2 and 30 MB L3 cache.

Its successor, the 14th-generation Intel Core i7-14700 (Raptor Lake S Refresh), is also manufactured using the 10 nm process.

This one offers an expanded configuration with 20 cores (8 P, 12 E) and 28 threads, complemented by 28 MB L2 and 33 MB L3 cache. Both support PCIe 5.0 and integrate an Intel UHD Graphics 770. Single-core performance is very similar for both, leading to minimal differences in gaming. However, the Intel Core i7-14700 shows noticeably higher performance in multi-core applications, over 10 percent better, primarily thanks to the additional E-cores and larger cache.

Both CPUs have a base TDP of 65 watts. Under multi-core full load, the Intel Core i7-14700 tends to have increased power consumption and may require a more robust cooling solution. The Intel Core i7-14700 offers improved multi-core performance. With a small price difference, it is more advantageous for multi-threaded applications, while the Intel Core i7-13700 remains a balanced choice for gaming and general tasks.
