Intel Core i7-1360P vs MediaTek Dimensity 1080

Last updated:
The Intel Core i7-1360P is based on the Raptor Lake U architecture and was developed for use in compact laptops.

It is aimed at users who require high computing power for productive tasks in a mobile form factor. Manufactured in a 10 nm process, this processor uses a hybrid structure of different core types. In technical measurements of single-core and multi-core performance, the Intel Core i7-1360P is significantly ahead of the competition, with differences well over ten percent.

With the Intel Iris Xe Graphics 96 (Alder Lake) and a memory bandwidth of 102 GB/s, it provides a solid foundation for graphic applications. The Thermal Design Power is optimized for notebooks but requires active cooling. Due to the high performance, this processor is primarily found in higher-priced devices.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is a system-on-a-chip designed for use in mid-range smartphones.

It uses a modern 6 nm production and relies on an architecture of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores. In terms of computing power, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 ranks below laptop processors, which is reflected in lower values in single-core and multi-core tests. The integrated ARM Mali-G68 MP4 graphics are optimized for mobile games, but have a lower memory bandwidth of 44 GB/s.

The focus of this chip is on high energy efficiency and low heat generation for fanless housings. It offers a balanced price-performance ratio for price-conscious mobile device buyers. For simple everyday tasks and mobile communication, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is an appropriate choice, while it reaches its limits with demanding software.
