Intel Core i7-1355U vs Apple A18 Pro

The Intel Core i7-1355U belongs to the Raptor Lake U generation and was developed for slim notebooks. Manufactured in a 10 nm process, this processor features a hybrid architecture with two performance cores and eight efficiency cores.

Benchmarks show solid performance designed for everyday office work and light multitasking. The integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics 96 offers basic performance for graphical tasks but is only limitedly suitable for demanding gaming. With a level 3 cache of 12 MB and a maximum memory bandwidth of 102 GB/s, efficiency is optimized for mobile applications.

The focus is on low power consumption, which keeps the thermal design power low and enables longer battery life. In terms of price, it is often found in mid-range laptops. The Apple A18 Pro is based on the Donan architecture and is manufactured using the advanced 3 nm process.

As a system-on-a-chip, it is primarily designed for mobile devices and offers high efficiency in computing power. In a direct comparison of single-core and multi-core benchmarks, it clearly outperforms the Intel Core i7-1355U by more than ten percent. The integrated Apple A18 Pro graphics unit with six cores enables smooth rendering in mobile games, but does not reach the performance of dedicated desktop solutions.

Thanks to a large level 2 cache of 20 MB and level 3 cache of 24 MB, data is processed quickly. Power consumption is very low due to the modern manufacturing. Since the chip is permanently integrated, the price-performance ratio is in the upper market segment.
