Intel Core i5-9500T vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Core i5-9500T, based on the Coffee Lake S Refresh architecture, was developed for energy-efficient desktop systems.

It is manufactured using the 14 nm process and features 6 cores and 6 threads. With 9 MB of Level 3 Cache and 0 MB of Level 2 Cache, it provides a solid foundation for multitasking. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 and a maximum memory bandwidth of 43 GB/s via PCIe 3.0 enable good performance for office applications and light multimedia tasks.

In single-core performance, it significantly outperforms the Intel Processor N100 in some scenarios, and its multi-core performance is noticeably higher, making it better suited for more productive applications.

Its power consumption is higher than that of the N100, and it is mainly available on the used market. The Intel Processor N100, a member of the newer Alder Lake N architecture, is designed for ultra-compact and energy-efficient systems such as mini-PCs. It is manufactured using the more advanced 10 nm process and has 4 cores and 4 threads.

With 4 MB of Level 2 Cache and 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, it is optimized for efficiency. Its Intel UHD Graphics with 24 Execution Units (Alder Lake) and a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s via PCIe 3.0 are designed for basic graphics requirements. Its single-core performance is comparable to that of the Intel Core i5-9500T in some benchmarks, but its multi-core performance is lower.

Its extremely low power consumption enables fanless and silent systems. This processor is typically soldered directly onto motherboards and is thus part of complete systems. In gaming scenarios, the Intel Core i5-9500T offers somewhat better performance for simple or older titles due to its overall stronger CPU and Intel UHD Graphics 630.

The Intel Processor N100 is less suitable for this and is primarily designed for media playback and basic desktop tasks. For users seeking higher computing power and better graphics performance for general productivity, the Intel Core i5-9500T is the better choice. The Intel Processor N100 is ideal for users who prefer maximum energy efficiency, a compact design, and silent operation for thin clients, digital signage, or economical home servers.
