Intel Core i5-6600K vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
This processor, introduced in 2015 based on the Skylake S architecture, targeted mainstream desktop users and enthusiasts. Manufactured on a 14 nm process, it features 4 cores and 4 threads with 6 MB of Level 3 cache and a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s. The integrated graphics is the Intel HD Graphics 530.

In benchmarks, the Intel Core i5-6600K shows significantly higher single-core performance and outperforms the Intel Processor N100 in multi-core applications by over 25 percent.

For gaming, especially with a dedicated graphics card, it is clearly the better option. Its higher TDP means higher power consumption, and today it is primarily relevant in the used market. The Intel Processor N100, introduced in 2023 based on the Alder Lake N architecture, is designed for energy-efficient and compact systems.

It is manufactured on a 10 nm process and offers 4 cores and 4 threads optimized for efficiency, as well as 4 MB of Level 2 and 6 MB of Level 3 cache. The maximum memory bandwidth is 38 GB/s. The integrated graphics unit is the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake). The performance of the Intel Processor N100 in single- and multi-core applications is noticeably lower than that of the Intel Core i5-6600K.

It is characterized by a very low TDP and thus extremely low power consumption, making it ideal for fanless systems and offering good value for money for its target group. In summary, the Intel Core i5-6600K is the superior choice for users who need higher computing power for general desktop tasks, light media editing, or gaming with a separate graphics card.

The Intel Processor N100, on the other hand, is excellently suited for energy-efficient, quiet systems for basic office work, web browsing, streaming, or as a home server.
