The AMD FX-6300, based on the Vishera (Bulldozer) architecture, was manufactured in 32 nm and offered six cores.

Its strength lay in providing multi-core capabilities for its segment at the time. With 8 MB L3 cache and PCIe 3.0, it achieved a maximum memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s. The Intel Core i3-8100 CPU, a representative of the Coffee Lake S architecture, was produced using a more modern 14 nm process and features four efficient cores as well as the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630.

With 6 MB L3 cache and PCIe 3.0, it achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. In single-core performance, the Intel Core i3-8100 significantly outperforms the AMD FX-6300. Even in multi-core scenarios, the Intel Core i3-8100 shows noticeably higher performance, despite the lower number of cores.

This is due to the efficiency of its newer architecture and the more advanced manufacturing process, which also leads to better energy efficiency. For gaming applications, the Intel Core i3-8100 is the superior choice due to its stronger single-core performance. The AMD FX-6300 is comparatively less powerful and consumes more power.
