The Intel Core i3-7100T, a seventh-generation desktop processor (Kaby Lake S), was developed as an energy-efficient variant for mainstream desktop systems requiring solid performance with moderate power consumption.

The Intel Processor N100, based on the newer Alder Lake N architecture, is designed for energy-efficient, compact systems such as mini-PCs or thin clients, where low power consumption and silent operation are paramount.

Manufactured using the 14 nm process, the Intel Core i3-7100T features 2 cores and 4 threads, along with 3 MB of Level 3 cache. The Intel Processor N100 utilizes a more advanced 10 nm manufacturing process and integrates 4 cores and 4 threads, which are designed as efficiency cores.

It is equipped with 4 MB of Level 2 cache and 6 MB of Level 3 cache. In performance tests, the Intel Processor N100 shows clearly superior single-core performance compared to the Intel Core i3-7100T. The Intel Processor N100 also surpasses its counterpart in multi-core performance. This increase is thanks to the newer architecture and more efficient core design of the Intel Processor N100.

Both processors are not suitable for demanding gaming. The Intel Core i3-7100T is equipped with Intel HD Graphics 630. The Intel Processor N100 features Intel UHD Graphics with 24 Execution Units (Alder Lake). The more modern integrated graphics unit of the Intel Processor N100 offers slightly improved performance for very light games or multimedia content due to architectural advancements.

A significant difference lies in power consumption. The Intel Core i3-7100T has a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 35 Watts. The Intel Processor N100 is considerably more energy-efficient with a TDP of merely 6 Watts. This enables its use in passively cooled systems and contributes to lower operating costs.

The Intel Core i3-7100T is an older model primarily found used or in existing systems. The Intel Processor N100 offers excellent value for money for new, energy-efficient systems, thanks to its modern architecture, improved performance, and extremely low power consumption.
