The Intel Core i3-6100, introduced in the third quarter of 2015 based on the Skylake S architecture, was designed for entry-level desktop PCs and basic office applications.

It is manufactured using the 14 nm process and features 2 cores and 4 threads. This processor offers 3 MB of Level 3 Cache, supports PCIe 3.0, and achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 is designed for everyday visual tasks but is not suitable for demanding gaming.

With a TDP of 51W, its power consumption is higher compared to newer models. In terms of price, it is only available on the used market. The Intel Processor N100, introduced in the first quarter of 2023 based on the Alder Lake N architecture, targets ultra-low-power devices, mini-PCs, and embedded systems.

It is manufactured using the more advanced 10 nm process and integrates 4 cores and 4 threads, giving it superior multi-core performance. This processor offers 4 MB of Level 2 Cache and 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, also supports PCIe 3.0, and a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake) provides improved graphics performance for light applications and could offer a slight advantage in very undemanding, older games.

With a TDP of only 6W, it is extremely energy-efficient and offers excellent value for money, often found in new, cost-effective systems. In a performance comparison, the Intel Processor N100 shows noticeably higher single-core performance and significantly superior multi-core performance compared to the Intel Core i3-6100.

For modern, energy-efficient, and more powerful solutions, the Intel Processor N100 is clearly the better choice.
