The Intel Core i3-3220, based on the Ivy Bridge S architecture, was introduced in the third quarter of 2012 and was aimed at mainstream desktop users for basic computing tasks.

It is manufactured using a 22 nm fabrication process and features 2 cores and 4 threads. The processor has 3 MB of Level 3 Cache. In single-core performance, the Intel Core i3-3220 offers a solid foundation for everyday applications. Its multi-core performance is suitable for lighter multitasking scenarios and is significantly lower than that of the Intel Processor N100.

With integrated Intel HD Graphics 2500 and a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s, the processor is designed for basic display output and very light gaming, but not for demanding gaming. The Thermal Design Power (TDP) is 55 watts, which is typical for a processor of this generation. It supports PCIe 2.0.

As an older model, the Intel Core i3-3220 is now mainly found on the used market or in existing systems and offers an affordable entry point for simple tasks. The Intel Processor N100, part of the Alder Lake N architecture, is a significantly newer processor that came onto the market in 2023.

It targets energy-efficient desktops, mini-PCs, and embedded systems. Manufactured using a modern 10 nm process, it offers 4 cores and 4 threads. It features 4 MB of Level 2 Cache and 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, which supports data processing. The Intel Processor N100 shows significantly higher single-core performance and also significantly superior multi-core performance compared to the Intel Core i3-3220, making it better suited for modern everyday tasks and efficient multitasking.

Equipped with Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, it offers improved graphics performance for media playback and very light gaming compared to the older model. It is not intended for demanding games. With an extremely low TDP of 6 watts, the Intel Processor N100 is extremely energy-efficient and ideal for fanless or very quiet systems.

It supports PCIe 3.0. The processor is often part of new, compact systems offering good value for its efficiency and modern features.
