Intel Celeron N5100 vs Intel Processor N97

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N5100 (Jasper Lake) and the Intel Processor N97 (Alder Lake N) are energy-efficient 10 nm Intel processors for the entry-level segment, designed for cost-effective systems such as thin clients and mini-PCs.

Both feature four cores and four threads. The Intel Processor N97 significantly outperforms the Intel Celeron N5100 in computing power. Its single-core performance is over 160 percent higher in relevant benchmarks, and its multi-core performance exceeds that of the Intel Celeron N5100 by more than 100 percent.

This leads to a noticeably smoother and more responsive user experience with the Intel Processor N97. In gaming scenarios, neither CPU is suitable for demanding titles. Their integrated graphics units (Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs) are intended for basic tasks. However, the Intel UHD Graphics of the Intel Processor N97 (Alder Lake) offers better performance than that of the Intel Celeron N5100 (Jasper Lake) for very simple games.

Both processors are characterized by low power consumption and low TDP, ideal for passively cooled systems. They offer good value for money in the entry-level range. The Intel Processor N97 is usually slightly more expensive but offers a performance increase that justifies the higher price.

The Intel Celeron N5100 is sufficient for basic office and web tasks, while the Intel Processor N97 is the better choice for smoother operation and light multitasking.
