Intel Celeron N5100 vs Intel Pentium N4200

Last updated:
The Intel Pentium N4200 (Apollo Lake) and the Intel Celeron N5100 (Jasper Lake) are energy-efficient processors for entry-level devices such as notebooks.

Both are designed for basic tasks; the N5100 is the newer generation. The Intel Pentium N4200 is manufactured using the 14 nm process, while the Intel Celeron N5100 uses the more advanced 10 nm process. Both feature four cores and four threads. The N5100 offers 2 MB Level 2 and 4 MB Level 3 Cache (N4200: 2 MB Level 3 Cache).

Benchmarks show the Intel Celeron N5100 with significantly higher performance. The N5100's integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Jasper Lake) outperforms the N4200's Intel HD Graphics 505. The N5100's higher memory bandwidth (47 GB/s compared to 30 GB/s) supports its better performance in light gaming.

The N5100's 10 nm process also ensures higher energy efficiency and lower heat generation. The older Intel Pentium N4200 is found in more affordable devices. The Intel Celeron N5100 offers a more attractive price-performance ratio due to its better performance and efficiency. For most everyday tasks, the Intel Celeron N5100 is the superior choice.

It offers a more modern architecture, better computing and graphics performance, and higher energy efficiency for a smoother user experience. The N4200 is only suitable for extremely budget-oriented systems.
