Manufactured using Intel's 14 nm process, this chip offers four cores and four threads, making it suitable for basic computing tasks such as internet browsing, word processing, and media playback. The Intel UHD Graphics 600 is integrated for graphical output. The maximum memory bandwidth is 38 GB/s.

The cache hierarchy includes 0 MB of Level 2 cache and 4 MB of Level 3 cache. The Intel Processor N97 was introduced in 2023 and is part of the newer Alder Lake N architecture.

It also targets the market for energy-efficient and compact devices such as laptops and mini-PCs, but offers a significantly more modern foundation. This processor is manufactured using a more advanced 10 nm manufacturing process and also features four cores and four threads. The integrated graphics solution is the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake), which offers improved graphics performance compared to the older model.

The maximum memory bandwidth here is also 38 GB/s. The cache structure includes 4 MB of Level 2 cache and 6 MB of Level 3 cache. Regarding pure computing power, the Intel Processor N97 shows clear advantages over the Intel Celeron N4100. Both in tasks that rely on single cores and in applications that can utilize multiple cores, the Intel Processor N97 delivers noticeably higher performance.

This is due to the more modern architecture and the more efficient manufacturing process. The Intel Celeron N4100 is sufficient for very light workloads, while the Intel Processor N97 enables smoother operation and better responsiveness for everyday tasks. Both processors are not primarily designed for gaming scenarios, as they belong to the entry-level class.

Nevertheless, thanks to its newer Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake), the Intel Processor N97 offers superior performance compared to the Intel UHD Graphics 600 of the Intel Celeron N4100. This means that the Intel Processor N97 is capable of running older or less demanding games at low settings and resolutions with a slightly better frame rate.

However, both chips are unsuitable for modern, graphically demanding games. Regarding power consumption and thermal design power (TDP), the Intel Celeron N4100 is very energy-efficient with a typical TDP of 6 watts. The Intel Processor N97 has a higher standard TDP of 12 watts, but can also be configured to 6 watts in systems with lower cooling requirements.

The lower power consumption of the Intel Celeron N4100 is advantageous for passively cooled systems and longer battery life in mobile devices. Despite its higher maximum performance, the Intel Processor N97 still offers good energy efficiency, which is appropriate for the performance increase provided.

Both processors are positioned in the entry-level segment and are intended for budget-conscious buyers. The Intel Celeron N4100 is typically found in very inexpensive devices, while the Intel Processor N97 is used in slightly more expensive, but still budget-friendly systems.

The price-performance ratio of the Intel Processor N97 is to be considered more advantageous due to its significantly better computing and graphics performance, which allows for greater versatility, even if the overall system's purchase price might be slightly higher. In summary, the Intel Celeron N4100 is a good choice for basic, very light tasks and applications where absolute energy efficiency and a minimal price are paramount.

It is excellent for thin clients, digital signage, or simple office work. The Intel Processor N97 offers significantly higher computing and graphics performance, making it a better choice for everyday tasks, multitasking, and running more modern applications. It is the recommended option for users who want a smoother experience and a bit more headroom for future requirements without breaking the bank.
