Intel Celeron J4005 vs Intel Processor N150

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron J4005, introduced in the fourth quarter of 2017, is based on the 14-nm Gemini Lake architecture.

It features two cores and two threads, Intel UHD Graphics 600, 4 MB Level 3 cache, and PCIe 2.0. This processor is designed for basic desktop applications such as browsing and word processing and offers a TDP of 10W. The Intel Processor N150, released in the first quarter of 2023, utilizes the more advanced 7-nm process and the Twin Lake architecture.

It is intended for efficient compact systems and offers four cores, four threads, more powerful Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake), 4 MB Level 2, 6 MB Level 3 cache, and PCIe 3.0. Its TDP is 6W. In terms of computing power, the Intel Processor N150 significantly outperforms the Intel Celeron J4005.

This applies to both single-core and multi-core performance, due to its more modern architecture and higher core count. Even in very simple gaming scenarios, the N150's Intel UHD Graphics is superior to the J4005's Intel UHD Graphics 600, although neither is suitable for demanding gaming. The N150 is also more energy-efficient and offers a better price-performance ratio.

For modern, light workloads and longevity, the Intel Processor N150 is the clear better recommendation; the Intel Celeron J4005 is only suitable for extremely budget-conscious or very old applications.
