AMD Ryzen 7 3700X vs AMD EPYC 7352

Last updated:
The AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, introduced in July 2019 and based on the Matisse architecture (Zen 2), targets consumers for high-performance desktop systems.

It is ideal for gaming, content creation, and demanding productivity tasks. Manufactured using a 7 nm process, it features 8 cores and 16 threads. With 4 MB of L2 cache and 32 MB of L3 cache, as well as PCIe 4.0 support and a maximum memory bandwidth of 51 GB/s, it offers balanced single-core and multi-core performance, with its high clock frequency being advantageous for gaming.

The Thermal Design Power (TDP) is moderate, suitable for standard cooling systems. Its price-performance ratio was very good at launch, and it is known today as an attractive option for its segment. The AMD EPYC 7352, also introduced in August 2019 and based on the Rome architecture (Zen 2), is a server processor for data centers and enterprise applications.

Its strength lies in virtualization, data analysis, and massive parallel processing. Also manufactured using a 7 nm process, it offers 24 cores and 48 threads, enabling superior multi-core performance. It is specified with 0 MB of L2 cache and a large 128 MB of L3 cache. It also supports PCIe 4.0 and a maximum memory bandwidth of 51 GB/s.

This processor is not suitable for gaming due to its optimization for server workloads. The TDP is significantly higher, requiring robust server cooling solutions. Its high acquisition price reflects its enterprise focus and reliability.
