AMD FX-8350 vs Intel Core i5-4570

The AMD FX-8350, based on the Vishera architecture (Bulldozer), was introduced as an eight-core processor in the 32 nm manufacturing process for enthusiasts.

It features eight threads, 8 MB Level 3 Cache, and 30 GB/s maximum memory bandwidth. The Intel Core i5-4570 with Haswell S architecture was designed in the 22 nm process for the mainstream desktop market.

It offers four cores, four threads, 6 MB Level 3 Cache, 26 GB/s memory bandwidth, PCIe 3.0 support, and integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600. In benchmarks, the Intel Core i5-4570 shows significantly higher single-core performance, which gives it an advantage in many applications and gaming scenarios.

The Intel processor's more effective architecture provides better performance per core here. For multi-core tasks, the Intel Core i5-4570 can also achieve superior overall performance, although the AMD FX-8350 can offer comparable performance in some highly parallelized applications.

The Intel Core i5-4570, with a TDP of 84W, is significantly more energy-efficient than the AMD FX-8350, whose TDP is 125W. Both processors are primarily available today on the used market, where their price-performance ratio depends on the respective offers. For general applications, gaming, and systems without a dedicated graphics card, the Intel Core i5-4570 is recommended due to its stronger single-core performance, energy efficiency, and integrated graphics.

The AMD FX-8350 could be an option for older, highly parallelized workloads, but with higher power consumption.
