AMD Athlon 5350 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The AMD Athlon 5350 was introduced in 2014 for entry-level desktops and HTPCs. It is based on the Kabini (Jaguar) architecture, manufactured in a 28 nm process.

With four cores and four threads, it offers 2 MB of Level 3 cache and a maximum memory bandwidth of 13 GB/s. Its integrated graphics is the AMD Radeon HD 8400. Its computing performance is significantly lower than that of the Intel Processor N100.

Its TDP is 25 Watts. The Intel Processor N100, introduced in 2023, targets modern, energy-efficient mini-PCs. It uses the Alder Lake N architecture in a 10 nm process. With four efficiency cores and four threads, it offers 4 MB of Level 2, 6 MB of Level 3 cache, 38 GB/s maximum memory bandwidth, and PCIe 3.0.

The integrated graphics is the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake). It significantly surpasses the AMD Athlon 5350 in all performance areas. Its TDP is a very low 6 Watts. For gaming, both processors are only conditionally suitable. The Intel Processor N100 delivers better results in simple games with a more modern graphics unit and higher memory bandwidth.

The AMD Athlon 5350 is outdated and only relevant in the used market. The Intel Processor N100 offers a significantly better price-performance ratio for modern entry-level systems, as it combines superior performance and energy efficiency. Recommendation: For basic office work, web browsing, and media consumption, the Intel Processor N100 is the clear choice.

The AMD Athlon 5350 is only suitable for specific legacy applications.
