The
MediaTek Helio G96 is a mid-range smartphone processor that is installed in many Chinese smartphones. It was presented at the end of 2021 and offers a hybrid structure typical of ARM processors. 2 Cortex-A76 high-performance CPU cores clock at 2.05 GHz. The ARMv8-A64 instruction set is supported, which can natively process 64-bit instructions.
The performance cores are supported by 6 smaller CPU cores, the so-called efficiency cores. These are based on the smaller Cortex-A55 design and also clock somewhat lower at 2.0 GHz. If necessary, the CPU clusters can calculate in a network and work with 8 threads at the same time.
The ARM Mali-G57 MC2 is used as the internal graphics. The maximum clock frequency of the GPU is 0.9 GHz. RAM up to the LPDDR4X-2133 type can be connected to the system via two memory channels, the maximum amount is 10 GB. The video codecs H.264, H.265 / HEVC and the VP9 codec used by YouTube, for example, can be decoded in hardware via the graphics unit. Frame rates of up to 60 fps in FullHD or 120 fps in HD are supported.
The maximum possible display resolution is 2520x1080 pixels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The system memory can be connected via the UFS interface (UFS 2.2), whereby the speed depends less on the smartphone processor and more on the type of memory.
The
MediaTek Helio G96 can control displays with up to 120 Hz in FulHD+ resolution. However, the connectivity of the SoC is limited to 4G. Bluetooth is supported up to version 5.2. The
MediaTek Helio G96 enables camera recordings of up to 32 MP, new features such as face recognition via artificial intelligence are available.
The processor is manufactured by the Taiwanese manufacturer TSMC using a 12 nm FinFet manufacturing process.
