The
Intel Xeon E7-2870 v2 was once a real powerhouse for server applications. Its architecture, based on
Ivy Bridge EX, was manufactured in 22 nm. This provided a solid foundation. Its
high core count was particularly appreciated. This enabled very good performance in extensive multi-core workloads.
This processor was also an excellent choice for memory-intensive tasks. It could efficiently utilize large amounts of memory. This is often crucial in data centers. The generously sized 30 MB L3 cache also contributed significantly to fast data processing. The
Intel Xeon E7-2870 v2 is a good example.
It shows how well-thought-out server hardware can still find its use even after many years. We have found that it still delivers solid results for certain specialized applications. Its
reliability, which is known from Intel Xeon processors, is another plus.
- High core count
- Efficient memory management
- Large L3 cache (30 MB)
- Known reliability
