Intel Processor N100 vs Raspberry Pi 5 B (Broadcom BCM2712)

Last updated:
The Intel Processor N100, based on the Alder Lake N architecture and manufactured in 10 nm, is an energy-efficient processor for mini-PCs and embedded systems.

It has 4 cores with 4 MB L2 and 6 MB L3 cache. Its integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s supports PCIe 3.0. In benchmarks, the Intel Processor N100 shows significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance than its counterpart.

For light gaming or emulation, it offers better performance due to its superior graphics unit and memory connectivity. Its low power consumption makes it ideal for fanless designs. The Raspberry Pi 5 B (Broadcom BCM2712), introduced in late 2023, is the heart of the eponymous single-board computer, aimed at hobbyists and developers.

It is based on the Cortex-A76 architecture and is manufactured in 16 nm, with 4 cores, 2 MB L2 and 2 MB L3 cache. Its Broadcom VideoCore VII graphics offer a maximum memory bandwidth of 17 GB/s and support PCIe 2.0. Although it falls short of the Intel Processor N100 in raw computing power, the Raspberry Pi 5 B (Broadcom BCM2712) offers excellent value for money as a complete platform.

It is perfectly suited for education, IoT projects, and home automation.
