Intel Pentium N4200 vs Intel Processor N150

Last updated:
The Intel Pentium N4200, based on the Apollo Lake architecture, was introduced in 2016 and manufactured using a 14 nm process.

It targeted the market for energy-efficient entry-level systems and mini-PCs. The internal graphics unit is the Intel HD Graphics 505. This processor offers basic performance for web browsing, word processing, and media playback. It utilizes PCIe 2.0 and achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s.

Compared to the Intel Processor N150, the Intel Pentium N4200 shows significantly lower single-core and multi-core performance.

Its power consumption is typically low. The Intel Processor N150, part of the Twin Lake architecture, is a much newer model, manufactured using a more advanced 7 nm process. It is designed for modern, energy-efficient desktop systems and offers improved performance for everyday tasks.

The integrated graphics unit is the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake). This processor supports PCIe 3.0 and achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s. It delivers significantly higher single-core performance, leading to noticeably better responsiveness, and also clearly outperforms the Intel Pentium N4200 in multi-core tasks.

Its power consumption is also low, benefiting from the more modern manufacturing process. Neither processor is primarily designed for gaming scenarios. However, the Intel Processor N150, with its Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs and higher memory bandwidth, offers better graphical performance for very simple or older titles compared to the Intel HD Graphics 505 of the Intel Pentium N4200.

Both CPUs are known for their low power consumption and are well-suited for passively cooled systems with very low TDP values. The Intel Pentium N4200 is an older model, mostly found today in inexpensive or used systems, while the Intel Processor N150, as its successor, offers significantly better value for money due to its more modern architecture and much higher efficiency.

In summary, the Intel Processor N150 is the superior choice for a modern, responsive computing experience. It offers substantially higher processing power and better graphics performance while maintaining high energy efficiency. The Intel Pentium N4200 is only recommended for extremely budget-conscious applications with minimal performance requirements.
