Intel Pentium J3710 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Pentium J3710 (Braswell architecture, 2016) was developed for energy-efficient mini-PCs and home servers.

The Intel Processor N100 (Alder Lake N architecture, 2023) targets similar markets but offers a more modern basis for better performance in entry-level desktops and thin clients.

The Intel Pentium J3710 is manufactured in 14 nm, has four cores (no Hyper-Threading), 2 MB L3 cache, and PCIe 2.0. Its integrated graphics are the Intel HD Graphics 405 (18EU) with 26 GB/s memory bandwidth. The Intel Processor N100, manufactured in 10 nm, also offers four cores (no Hyper-Threading), but 4 MB L2 and 6 MB L3 cache, as well as PCIe 3.0.

Its Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) benefits from 38 GB/s memory bandwidth. The Intel Processor N100 delivers significantly superior performance in single- and multi-core benchmarks and a more responsive user experience. Neither is suitable for demanding gaming. Thanks to more modern graphics and higher memory bandwidth, the Intel Processor N100 offers noticeably better rendering of simpler games and smoother media playback.

Both processors are very energy-efficient, with the 10 nm N100 being more efficient per performance unit. The Intel Processor N100 offers a significantly better price-performance ratio. For the most basic tasks, such as a file server, where minimal costs and maximum energy efficiency are priorities, the Intel Pentium J3710 may suffice.

For noticeably better responsiveness in web, office, and media applications, the Intel Processor N100 is the clear superior choice.
