Intel Pentium Gold G5400 vs Intel Processor N150

Last updated:
The Intel Pentium Gold G5400 is a desktop processor of the Coffee Lake S architecture, introduced in the second quarter of 2018.

Manufactured using the 14 nm process, it features 2 cores and 4 threads. It is aimed at entry-level PCs for everyday office and home tasks and offers a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s as well as PCIe Version 3.0. With 4 MB of Level 3 Cache and the integrated Intel HD Graphics 610, it provides the basis for basic computing tasks.

Its TDP is 58 Watts. This processor is not designed for demanding games; the integrated graphics are only suitable for very simple or older titles. In performance comparison, its single-core and multi-core performance is lower than that of the N150. The Intel Processor N150 is an energy-efficient processor of the Twin Lake architecture, launched in the first quarter of 2023.

It is manufactured using the more modern 7 nm process and offers 4 cores and 4 threads. This processor is designed for compact and fanless systems that require high energy efficiency. With 4 MB of Level 2 and 6 MB of Level 3 Cache, as well as a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, it provides a solid foundation for everyday tasks.

Its integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 Execution Units (Alder Lake) is more modern and powerful than that of the G5400, but also remains limited to the level of very light games. Its TDP of only 6.5 Watts is a significant advantage. The Intel Processor N150 shows significantly superior performance compared to the G5400 in single-core and multi-core applications.

For systems where low energy consumption and a modern architecture are paramount, the Intel Processor N150 is the better choice. The Intel Pentium Gold G5400, on the other hand, can be an option for very budget-conscious upgrades of older desktop systems, if the lower performance and higher consumption are acceptable.
